Fieldwork & Conservation

With a decade of international zoological experience, Dan has been involved in numerous scientific expeditions in the Northern Amazon, Yucatan Peninsula, Philippines, and Southeast & Central Asia. His core skills are in remote camp management, mist netting, raptor handling, and camera trapping.

Recent projects:

Mexico 2024

In summer 2024, Dan joined an expedition to the Mayan jungles of the Yucatan as the expedition’s Senior Mammal Scientist, leading the large mammal tracking and camera trapping research of a long-term species diversity study. Specific focus on large felids (jaguar, puma, ocelot) and large ungulates (deer, peccary, tapir).

Mongolia 2024

As part of Dan’s ongoing work with the Snow Leopard Trust, he joined the Snow Leopard Conservation Foundation’s field research team, capturing and collaring snow leopards in the South Gobi desert for 6 weeks.

Honduras 2023

In 2023, Dan joined an expedition to the remote cloud forests of Cusuco, Honduras as an ornithologist, capturing and ringing tropical forest birds as part of a long-term species diversity study. Alongside his mist netting and sound recording, he assisted with the large mammal camera-trapping team.
